South Korea's InBody Co., the global leader in analytic devices for body composition, is entering the health management solution field in 2023.
Using its body composition data, the company will roll out products that easily check a user's health condition at a hospital, clinic or home.
InBody on Sunday said its forthcoming medical and corporate health management solutions will use its accumulated big data on body composition.
As the world's top manufacturer of analytic devices for body composition and water levels, the company has more than 90 million bits of related data collected worldwide. This information is managed by LookinBody (LB), a platform that stores data in the cloud collected by InBody devices and tracks and manages it.
Mainly used at gyms and obesity clinics, LB allows gym instructors through the web to track body composition records, compare the InBody scores of users, and recommend a diet and exercise tailored for each person's body composition.
Also in the works is a medical LB for body water analysis as a service for doctors and patients that integrates LB with management of a patient's condition. It provides information such as that of body water analysis by disease, levels of edema (swelling) by body part and visceral fat, and percentage of body fat by region.
An analytic device for body water usable at home is also coming for cancer patients for whom nutritional balance is important, those suffering from heart and renal failure who must monitor their hydration status, people on dialysis who need to manage their weight and diabetics.
InBody will link this home-based device with medical services for body water analysis to allow doctors to detect abnormal signs in patients and provide emergency treatment.
The company will also release a corporate LB as a solution for company executives and staff to systematically manage their health in 2023.
"We will grow into a comprehensive healthcare company based on big data on body composition that we've accumulated from around the world over a long time," InBody Vice President Choi Chang-eun said.
