Both companies plan to jointly pursue demonstration projects to increase the practical application of robots in construction sites, as well as to run a permanent R&D cooperation system to minimize duplicate investments in similar technologies during the development of robots and Internet-of-Things (IoT) applications, and to focus on research on safety-related robots.
In addition, they plan to establish a construction robot sector alliance to continuously expand research, development and commercialization networks.
Samsung C&T established a construction robotics team last year, and has been focusing on research and development in the field of construction robots to improve construction site safety, quality and productivity.
Hyundai E&C has also been increasing its capabilities in the field of construction robots, such as developing patrol robots for construction sites and unmanned construction robots, since establishing a dedicated organization in 2020.
