Samsung releases SD card brand highly resistant to water, drops

Samsung Electronics Co. on Tuesday said its new Pro Ultimate line of secure data (SD) cards features enhanced speed and stability.

The brand’s micro SD card was released that day and its SD card will follow in October. SD cards are flash memory semiconductor-based storage devices mainly used in portable digital gadgets like smartphones, tablet PCs and action cameras.

The cards are customized for photographers and content creators for smooth performance of high-capacity content, ensuring stable performance even for repetitive data read, write and delete tasks.

Pro Ultimate products can transfer a 1.3GB movie from a PC to a memory card in 11.2 seconds and are waterproof up to a depth of two meters for a maximum 72 hours. Data is protected even in extreme situations such as a drop from up to five meters.

The power efficiency of the new brand’s cards is also up to 37% higher than that of previous products.
