Hanwha Q Cells Co., a solar panel manufacturing arm of South Korea's Hanwha Solutions Corp., said on Thursday it has completed a solar power complex in San Diego, California, to supply electricity to Meta, the parent of Facebook Inc.

The solar farm, the largest of its kind in San Diego, is comprised of solar modules with a capacity to convert sunlight into 50-megawatt (MW) electricity, as well as facilities to store 200MW energy per hour.

Hanwha Q Cells took charge of the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of the plant and manufactured solar modules and other core equipment installed in the facilities.

Meta has switched to renewables for all its electricity needs since 2020 to achieve carbon neutrality for its supply chain by 2030.

Hanwha has been expanding partnerships with global companies in step with their accelerated transition to renewable energy.

Last January, it signed a solar module supply and EPC service deal with Microsoft Corp. to produce 12-gigawatt electricity for eight years.

Hanwha Q Cells is the largest residential and commercial solar module maker in the US.
