Hanwha Systems Co. on Friday said it held a ceremony the day before to mark its completion of a combat system training center for the Philippine Navy.

At the Naval Education, Training and Doctrine Command in San Antonio in the Philippine province of Zambales, the ceremony was attended by acting Philippine Undersecretary of National Defense for Acquisition and Assistant Secretary Joselito B. Ramos, Rear Admiral Renato P. David, head of the naval command, and Kim Yeong-ho, chief of Hanwha Systems' command and control unit.

The new center contains rooms for theory education, engine equipment, simulation training and control along with a range of simulation training equipment including those of Hanwha Systems' combat management system.

The Philippine Navy said it expects to conduct education and training on the ground using equipment at the center instead of only directly on ships, thus contributing to more efficient training and raising naval combat capability.

Hanwha Systems CEO Eoh Sung-chul said, "We hope that the setup of this training center will help boost the friendship and amicable cooperation between the two countries," adding, "As well as successfully conducting our ongoing project with the Philippine Navy, we will actively contribute to streamlining the Philippines' air defense capabilities with continuous follow-up logistics support."
