Samsung Electro-Mechanics, South Korean electronic components maker, has joined the Responsible Business Alliance (RBA) and Drive+, two global consortia that promote responsible business practices and sustainability.

RBA is a non-profit organization composed of companies influenced by the global supply chain that focuses on promoting responsible business practices. Currently, over 220 global companies are participating as RBA members.

Samsung Electro-Mechanics has established its own evaluation criteria, such as the RBA Code of Conduct and Supplier Code of Conduct, based on the RBA's guidelines, to ensure compliance with laws and regulations in areas such as safety, environment, and human rights.

With its recent membership in RBA, Samsung Electro-Mechanics plans to implement the global code of conduct proposed by RBA in five areas: labor, health and safety, environment, corporate ethics, and management systems, making it an integral part of its business operations.

The company has outlined plans to thoroughly assess and improve the entire supply chain, including domestic and international facilities and partner companies, in accordance with RBA standards. Additionally, it aims to actively participate in on-site RBA audits (RBA VAP Audit) conducted at domestic and overseas facilities to maintain a globally benchmarked working environment for both Samsung Electro-Mechanics and its employees.

In addition to its RBA membership, Samsung Electro-Mechanics aims to enhance ESG management in its automotive component business through its participation in Drive+.

Drive+ is based on global international norms in the automotive industry and promotes sustainability through three codes of conduct: corporate ethics, environment, and human rights and labor conditions. It focuses on five key strategies: supply chain, raw materials, working environment, carbon neutrality, and circular value chain.

Drive+ currently includes the active participation of over 30 global automotive components companies, such as Continental, HARMAN, and BASF, working collectively towards sustainable practices in the industry.
