Cosmax opens integrated R&D center for bio-material

Cosmax Group, South Korea's largest cosmetics manufacturer specializing in original design manufacturing (ODM), announced on Monday that it has launched its new integrated R&D center for bio-material Cosmax Bio Foundry (CosmaxBF.)

CosmaxBF is designed to consolidate the company's existing bio-expertise and foster collaboration among various internal research entities, including the CosmaxBTI R&I Center, CM Tech, and Cosmax AB.

More than 100 researchers from both within the group and from external universities and institutions will contribute to CosmaxBF.

Cosmax Inc. began researching the skin microbiome in 2011. In 2019, it succeeded in commercializing the world's first skin microbiome cosmetics.

This initiative is built upon Cosmax's successful track record in microbiome research, highlighted by the commercialization of the world's first microbiome-based cosmetics in 2019.

CosmaxBF plans to unveil several advanced bio-research outcomes including an AI-based skin microbiome customization platform, the elucidation of human skin epidermal lipids, male pattern baldness and scalp aging, and the creation of skin organoid models.
