South Korea-based artificial intelligence startup Voyager X Inc. has successfully raised around 30 billion won ($26.4 million) in a Series A funding round from venture capital firms including SoftBank Ventures, Altos Ventures and Yellowdog.

Voyager X plans to use the proceeds from the latest round to hire up to 100 developers in a move to foster the company as Korea's leading AI startup.

The startup was co-founded in 2017 by Chang Byung-gyu, the chairman of game developer Krafton Inc. and Nam Se-dong who previously developed the country's popular chat service Say Club and camera app B612.

Voyager X products include video editing software, Vrew, and a scanning app, vFlat which are both powered by artificial intelligence technology. Other key services include Ownglyph, which transforms users’ handwritings into a font.

With Vrew, users can edit videos quickly and easily as if editing a word document. Also, its AI technology analyzes the audio from a video to automatically create subtitles alongside translating foreign languages.

The mobile scanner vFlat also uses AI technology to automatically even out the curved surfaces of documents and books that are being scanned.

According to the company, its products have over 1 million monthly active users in Korea, as well as India and the US.
