Rosé, a member of K-pop powerhouse Blackpink and an established solo artist, has been nominated in eight categories at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) — one of the four major US pop music awards.
According to the official nominations announced on Tuesday, Rosé's chart-topping collaboration with American pop icon Bruno Mars, APT., has landed her nods in a total of seven categories, including Video of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Collaboration, Best Pop, Best Direction, Best Art Direction and Best Visual Effects.
The track peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 earlier this year. Her solo debut studio album Rosie also gained recognition, with its lead single Toxic Til the End earning a nomination for Best K-pop.
Rosé ranks among the most-nominated artists this year. Leading the pack is Lady Gaga with 12 nominations, followed by Bruno Mars with 11, thanks in part to his duet with Rosé.
“I just heard that APT. has been nominated in eight categories at the VMAs,” Rosé said in a video posted on Instagram. “I’m honestly at a loss for words.”
The Best K-pop category will see a full Blackpink lineup, with each member nominated for solo works. Jennie earned a nod for Like JENNIE, Jisoo for Earthquake, and Lisa for Born Again. They join fellow nominees aespa (Whiplash), BTS’ Jimin (Who), and Stray Kids (Chk Chk Boom) in what is expected to be a highly competitive race.
For the Video of the Year honor, APT. will compete against Ariana Grande’s Brighter Days Ahead, Billie Eilish’s Birds of a Feather, Kendrick Lamar’s Not Like Us, Gaga & Mars’ Die With a Smile, Sabrina Carpenter’s Manchild and The Weeknd and Playboi Carti’s Timeless.
The 2025 MTV VMAs will be held on Sept. 7 at UBS Arena in New York.
